University honour for Leicester fashion guru Gok Wan

TV presenter and style guru Gok Wan will be awarded an honorary doctorate from Birmingham City University next week.

Born and bred in Leicester, Gok has worked in the fashion industry for the best part of two decades.

He initially trained in performing arts at London's prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama, but his interest was quickly overtaken by his interest in hair and make-up.

This prompted his entry into the fashion industry, where he gained early work as a hair and make-up artist on titles such as The Sunday Times.

Finding himself dissatisfied with beauty alone, Gok decided to pursue his love of clothes as a fashion stylist.

LOS ANGELES   - PlayStation is looking back at the success of its racing franchise Gran Turismo with a feature-length documentary about the video game's creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

Directed by Tamir Moscovic, Kaz: Pushing the Virtual Divide looks back at the 15-year history of the game's achievements -- including how it was the first PlayStation title to offer a 360-degree view of a 3D-rendered car -- and how it broke new ground in enabling players to drive any car they wanted, not just a typical Nascar, Formula 1 or rally race car around a track.

Videocon launched its first 4K UHD TV series in Mumbai today, featuring models having sizes going from 40-inches all the way to 85-inches. The TVs are LED backlit LCD TVs and come with a host of features, which we will enumerate below. On the pricing front, the base 40-inch model is pegged at Rs 91,000, whereas the flagship 85-inch one will set you back by Rs 9,90,000. Apart from these two sizes, you have the 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch models as well.

Drew Edwards, who on Thursday committed to become the third member of Ed Cooley’s 2015 recruiting class, is expected to add some depth to what is a very thin backcourt group for the Friars.

Providence remains active with other players for the 2015 class. One is Justin Robinson, a Virginia point guard who may be favoring PC and Virginia Tech. PC is also pushing hard for Davon Dillard, a 6-foot-5 scoring wing from Indiana.
